Our Bhutan is endowed wealth of hydropower potential. The rivers, soursing from the high snow-capped mountains which travers the country in a north-south direction before joining the Brahmaputra river in India, carries around 30,000 MW of estimated hydropower potential out of which around 23,495 MW is techno-economically feasible. The Postal Service in Bhutan was first launched on 10th October 1962 with the opening of a post office in Phuentsholing. In the same year, post offices were also opened in Paro and Thimphu. It was called the Department of Posts and Telegraphs and placed under the Ministry of Communications. This was the initial step taken by the Royal Government to provide a uniform means of communication throughout the country. The policy was initiated on eve of the 1st Five Year Plan, noting the importance of the existence of a uniform means of communication throughout the country to the achievement of a balanced socio-economic development.

The Royal Bhutan Army (RBA), is a branch of the armed Forces of the Kingdom of Bhutan responsible for maintaining the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty against security threats. The King of Bhutan is the Supreme Commander in Chief of the RBA. The Chief Operations Officer is Goonglon Wogma ( Major General) Batoo Tshering.
The RBA includes the Royal Body Guard (RBG), an elite branch of the armed forces responsible for the security of the King, the Royal Family, and other VIPs.
